6/4/2006  I have finally hidden our first Geocache.

Homesteader Cache
N 39° 31.523 W 105° 09.799
Difficulty: 1.5   Terrain: 3.5

Located in Deer Creek Canyon Park, this cache offers the hiker a great trek on a maintained trail system through a wonderful "Front Range" ecosystem.

Park maps are available at the trailhead to help in planning your hike to this cache. With an elevation gain of just over 1000, the 3-mile hike (one way) to the cache offers spectacular views of the city below and chances to view deer, elk, and turkey.

Please stay on the trail, as no bushwhacking is necessary. The cache is in a standard ammo box located a short distance off the trail. Take plenty of water and enjoy your hike.

Original Cache Contents:
Light stick
Child's fanny pack
Toy car
Action figure
Drink insulators
Bottle openers
Miscellaneous small items

Molly showing correct trail to the cache

Nothing too special about the cache or the hide, standard stuff. What makes this Geocache special (In my mind) is the hike.

Below you will find a map of Deer Creek Canyon Park. Geocaches and Benchmarks in the park are marked.
