We just returned from a wonderful fall trip to the Great Sand Dunes. We normally visit Colorado's Dunes in the spring but circumstance had us visiting late this year. We spent time hiking and exploring, of course, but we also played cards and kicked back and enjoyed life. Molly and I hiked to the top of the dunes this morning before we left for home. The wind and blowing sand was brutal but the view on top was worth the trouble. We also found 5 Geocaches, going and coming, including a Earth cache "A Day at the Beach". (GCZJQC)

I finished all the chores around the house and yard  on Saturday and Sunday so Molly and I could go hiking today. I decided to hike up Argentine Peak 13,738'. We  wanted to climb Argentine Peak earlier this summer but opted to climb Mt Edwards 13,850 instead. So, Today we returned to hike the 5 mile 2200 foot climb to the peak. We had light rain most of the day with a few minutes of hail when we were right on top eating lunch. As always, we had a wonderful time.

Molly and I  decided to take a walk to a nearby Geocache this morning but we didn't leave early enough as it was 108° by the time we returned. Both Molly and I were miserable and were spent the rest of the day. We did find that Geocache (GCVEM6) Just North of the Tornado. This evening we drove to McCook Nebraska to see some stock car races and had a great time .

Found three micro caches on our drive to Oberlin Kansas today. (GCXNR2) FML 100 Mile Cache, (GCR60Q) Mondo's E-70-II, (GCQTWM) Eastern Plains. None of them were too difficult, and they help pass the time on such a long drive.

This evening, I attended my first demolition derby. Oh Boy! What Fun! I had no idea a car could continue to run after being beaten to smithereens like that . I can hardly wait until next year's derby.
